Who Can Recommend A Really Stunning Place Of Natural Beauty For Walking In Derbshire?
My youngest son is 6 and can do around 5 miles rough terrain.
He loves Cumbria and Ingleborough but we’re running out of places to take them. Never explored Derbyshire and would rather have some kind of planned route rather than just setting off anywhere. Especially at his age. Ta.

I would also suggest Carsington Water where there is a range of other activities available too (e.g. playground/ bird hides/visitor centre). http://www.visitderbyshire.co.uk/fa_cars…
Alternatively, try Dovedale.

Hope Valley. Lots of choices around there,well-signposted routes for half or full day walks. One of the best-known walkers’ pubs in Britain is in Castleton. Stay below,or walk on the tops. Very nice HF/CHA hostel. Good b&b’s. Easy to get to by train or bus.Lovely views from the valley or the tops.Good place for youngters.Done it and loved it.

Try some of the following :
Stanage Edge, not too far from the road as a start point.
Hills in Hope Valley near Castleton, He would probably love the caverns
There are walks using former railway lines, so very easy walking.

Follow WingDing’s advice.
Especially North Yorks. And to put that in perspective, I’m from Lanc’s!

We love the area around Millstone Edge – also Longshaw Estate, nearby – great walking – safe paths for children – wonderful views across Hope Valley – Hathersage – etc.!
Ladybower and Derwent also very beautiful and good for walking or cycling with children.
