3 Responses to “What Is The Chance Of Getting Breast Cancer?”
From birth to age 39, 1 woman in 231 will get breast cancer (<0.5% risk).
From ages 40–59, the chance is 1 in 25 (4% risk).
From ages 60–79, the chance is 1 in 15 (nearly 7%).
If your friend has a mom or sister who has had breast cancer, then she has a 50/50 chance of getting it to, b/c of a certain gene that have located and for which she cdan be tested for.
Also, if she is like me and had Hodgkins Disease as a teenager and thus was exposed to high amounts of radiation on her chest area, she has a 50/50 chance of devolping BC with the next 25 years. If she it makes it that, her odds drop to be more in line with other women in her age group.
One in 231 women ages 0-39 will be diagnosed with breast cancer. With age, your chances of getting breast cancer increase. Your chances also increase if you have a family history of breast cancer or ovarian cancer or high amounts of estrogen.
