What Is Cervical Cancer?

I have HPV and was told I am at high risk of getting cervical cancer when I’m older. What is it? What do I need to accept?

    Same here.
Keep getting checked out. I was diagnosed with HPV, went in for a follow up appointment & they said my cells had gone somewhat bad (moderate) from there they turned to severe.. Think of it as a ladder (that is what my doc told me) The first step of the ladder is HPV, the top step is cancer. All the ones in between are your cells changing…. Moderate to Severe.. Good luck to you! =)

I was dignosed with high risk HPV on monday and basically its saying that you are higher risk of getting cervical cancer which is cancer in the cervical, but if caught early enough it can be treated…If you go and get your paps as often as your doctor tell you they will caught the cancer before it becomes full blown can’t cure cancer…Don’t be scared, but be aware and know that you can not miss any of you doctors appointment…HPV is very, very common, about 80-90% of the population has or will have some type of HPV…

hpv is just a virus that increases your chance of getting certain types of cervical cancer. my understanding of the virus is that you can sexually transmitt it to others, so be careful. a guy can have it with no symptoms, he will just be a carrier who could give it to any other woman he’s with in the future. as far as what you should “accept”… it just means you really have to go to your gyn regularlly. if caught early, cervical cancer is very treatable… if you don’t go often and get tested by your gyn you could develop cervical cancer that could spread and become much more severe and or even deadly. i treat cancer patients and i see way too many who would have been so much better off if their cancer would have been found sooner…
