ive been told that the best way to lose weight and gain some muscle is to go running and then do some weights, or is it best to lose some weight first through running then do some running and weights.

This sounds like a word scrambler but It depends how unfit the person is.
Some people might lose their lives if they were to do what you mention, in whichever order.
Heart attack is what comes to mind.
If massively obese, try getting your body in gentle motion and eat less. Do that for a year or till you are just overweight not obese then maybe you might consider running but even then I’d advice swimming till not overweight, then do what you want…

Best way is combining diet and fitness. You should have healthy eating plan and a good exercise program to achieve your goals. Choose healthy foods that you like and make your own diet list includes them. 5 smaller meal better than 3 big ones. ( 3 meal and 2 snacks) Snacks stop your hungry feeling. Drink lots of water and stay away from fat and sugar.

Honestly, the best way to loose weight quick is to go to a weight loss camp. I did it when I was 15 to get in better shape for my dance season, and I lost about 30lbs in a three week session. It was so fun, I went back every summer even though I didn’t need to. Now I am returning to take a counselour position this summer. Keeping your metabolism guessing is the key. You notice that at gyms they recommend that you do aerobic exercise on one day and then weights the next.
