I guess if she is thinking of an instance where breast cancer is treatable, then yes that would be better than herpes. Or if she is just talking about having to have a breast removed, then that too would be better than herpes.

Is your gf serious? Ok, coming from a young girl who HAD breast cancer, I would take herpes anyday. That can be controlled, cancer cannot…with cancer you have 2 choices…have tons of surgeries and chemo, or die. Neither is great, but if you make it out on the other side from all the chemo, choice number one is better. Tell your gf to grow up.

I have genital herpes and it has very little impact on your life at all, where as breast cancer is life-threatening.
Genital herpes is a harmless virus, no different from the herpes virus that causes cold sores on your mouth. If you have cold sores, you already have herpes. The genital symptoms are no worse.
The stigma placed on herpes by people like your girlfriend can make life more difficult, but I have told about 15 people and none of them has thought it was a big deal. I have also told four men, all of whom still fancied me, wanted sex with me and were interested in a relationship with me, whether we were emotionally involved or it was just a one night stand.
Physically all herpes is is a cold sore down below. An outbreak doesn’t happen often andlasts 48 hours or so – and it doesn’t hurt, the most it is is very slightly tender or a bit itchy – just like getting a pimple or something.
I have unprotected sex with my boyfriend and I would expect this of anyone I had a long term relationship with – herpes is not a big deal and it doesn’t bother him at all. My sister also has herpes and is married with children to a man who does not mind in the slightest.
It is normal to have herpes, whatever she may think – 80% of adults, 95% by age 50, have oral herpes, and in 1994 1 in 4 women had genital herpes (and since the numbers diagnosed each year have increased threefold this is bound to be a much higer proportion now). More than half of genital herpes is caused by the same virus – hsv-1 – as oral herpes, and it’s symptoms are no worse, often milder, when it is genital – it is stigma that makes people treat it differently if they do at all. People with oral herpes are just as likely to give you genital herpes if you practice oral sex with them.
