How Does A Woman Get Breast Cancer?

Well First of all Breast cancer is not something with which only a woman can get affected, even men can have breast cancer, though it occurs very less in men than in women
Breast cancer is cancer of breast tissue. Worldwide, it is the most common form of cancer in females, affecting approximately one out of twelve to thirteen women who reach age ninety at some stage of their life in the Western world. It is (after lung cancer) the second most fatal cancer in women. [3] Because the breast is composed of identical tissues in males and females, breast cancer can also occur in males, but here the incidence is very low, less than 1 percent.
There are several factors which can cause, though non of them have been proven 100% sure. Some of these reasons are as under:
1. Age
2. Genes
3. Alcohol
4.Obesity
5. Light Levels
6. Hormones

If the answer to that was known the world would be a better place. Most cancers are NOT genetic! Many of the risk factors are unproven. I had BC going on 17 years ago and had few fisk factors-early menstruation-I was average age-12
    Family history -none
First child after 30 or no children-I had 4 children, first at 21.
I did not take hormones-bad- but took birth control pills for a while-good
I had a tubal ligation at 35-this is thought to be an advantage also.
    I neither smoke nor drink.
Now, you figure it out. The sad thing is that breast cancer just occurs because we are women.

It’s the same how any other cancer starts.
    And it’s mostly genetic.
I also heard that white women are a wee bit more likely to get breast cancer, but I’m not sure if that’s true.

I actually have the knowledge of how I got breast cancer. When I was about 14, I was having problems regulating my periods, so the doctors put me on birth control pills. They would put me on one, take off, put me on another one, and this kept going for about 4 years, and I developed Breast Cancer at age 21. The constant changes in the estrogen levels finally caused by body to say enough!!!! And I developed breast cancer because of it. Not everyone of course will have this reaction, and I am not saying the birth control pills are bad, they were just not the right thing for me! I hope this helps!

There are so many differet reasons on why MEN or WOMEN get breast Cancer. Here is some basic info. about Breast Cancer. I hope this helps:
    Cause
The exact cause of breast cancer is not known. Female hormones and increasing age play a part. The chances that you will develop breast cancer increase as you age. About 1 in every 7 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer if she lives to be 80. 5, 4
Family history also plays a role in the development of breast cancer. You are more likely to have breast cancer if your mother, father, or sister has breast cancer. Also, women who carry certain genes called BRCA1 and BRCA2 are more likely to have breast cancer. If you have a strong family history of breast or ovarian cancer, you may want to be tested for these genes. People who inherit specific changes, or mutations, in one or both of these genes have a greater risk of developing breast cancer.
Studies show that women who take hormone replacement therapy with estrogen and progesterone have an increased risk of breast cancer. Women who take estrogen alone may not have an increased risk. 3
Many people believe that only women have breast cancer. But, although rare, about 1% of all breast cancer occurs in men. Most men who have breast cancer are older than 65, but it can appear in younger men. For this reason, any breast lump in an adult man is considered abnormal. 1, 2

  10. pinkribb Says:

breast cancer happens when cells in the breast mutate spontaneously and begin to grow too quickly, forming a tumor or other diseased group of cells. also, some women have a gene passed down through the women in their family called the BRCA gene – if a woman has this gene it is likely that they will develop breast cancer at some point in their life. a woman does not know she has that gene unless she has an expensive genetic test, called a karyotype, performed. women who have a high risk of breast cancer in their family may wish to have this test performed at a young age so they know whether or not they have this gene. if they do test positive for this gene, sometimes they will undergo a voluntary mastectomy (breast removal) so their risk of contracting cancer is either reduced or eliminated.

If we knew exactly how it developed…there’d be a cure.

  12. Ivyvine Says:

There was one other factor not mentioned, “environmental”
there was a high incidence of “uterine cancer” somewhere
in Long Island,NY several years ago, I believe and they
thought it was linked to a toxic land fill nearby, so I
would imagine it could also cause “breast” cnc.
