i love them when my kids win ribbons and tropheys,,,,,,, BUT when i walk away $50 poorer and won nothing i feel furious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, lol

Personally i don’t have a problem with them. I think it’s adorable and it gives them something to be proud of when they get older.

As long as it’s the natural beauty pageants and not the glitzs ones where they get all made up!
Kids should be kids and looking like kids…not older then me or like barbie!

I think that as long as you aren’t spray tanning your baby or covering them with makeup, it’s precious. It’s mothers that are trying to live through their child (by dressing them up like adults) that are sick.

I dont believe children should be sexualized and raised to think what you look like is what matters in life. Shaking your booty isnt going to get you into Harvard. I want my kids to know they are smart strong and compassionate..not superficial little airheads

i think baby photo contests are cute, but when it comes to like 5-6 year old girls wearing loads of makeup and tiny dresses, i think it goes a little too far. not because of what their wearing, not even becasue of the makeup, but because of waht it teaches them (looks are all that matter, i have to be prettier than everyone else, im not pretty without makeup and my hair done, etc.) but as babies i think its precious.

I entered my daughter in a couple local baby contests that where at the local fair for fun. They were free and the prizes where donations from local businesses (usually diapers and other baby items or a free photography session) plus every baby gets a certificate for entering. As long as you don’t get your hopes up too much its fun.
I don’t like the idea of spending your life’s savings travelling the country and paying a lot to enter contest where babies are wearing make up and then walking away pissed off because your baby didn’t win. Why put so much pressure on yourself or your baby.

I dont know where I stand on this issue. I think maybe they’re ok to a point….and that point being when the mothers’ get so obsessed with it…and especially when it leads to little girl beauty pageants. You know..the ones where the little girls look nothing like little girls and more like little street walkers. I have a 2 month old little girl and I never want to see a ribbon wrapped around her head with a bow on it. I guess I’m just not into that superflical stuff…but I dont knock others’ for doing it as long as they don’t go overboard and they remember babies are babies and little girls are little girls. We dont want them growing up before they have to.
