Can Over 18’s Still Get The Cervical Cancer Jab?

At my local college they are getting all 17 & 18 yr old girls vaccinated against cervical cancer. To qualify you must be born between 1/9/90 and 31/12/91. I was born earlier in the year of 1990 so I miss out – can I still get it done?

In August of this year the Health Minister said the campaign will be extended to girls between 16 and 18. She is considering offering it to those over 18, said it will have an effect vaccinating older girls and women who are sexually active, but it will be much less than immunising young virgins.
Speak to your doctor or any medical person at the college you attend.

    I live in Australia,
The vacination is given to you while you are at high school with the local council. Yr 8- yr 12 (Im currently in year 11)
You are eligible to get the vacination up to the age of 27 and it is FREE.
And it does still work even if you are sexualy active!
Good luck with all 3 needels!! The 3rd one hurts like a B**** :(

I live in the UK and its not a vaccine against actual cervical cancer, just against HPV, the most common STI that can cause cervical cancer.
My mum had cervical cancer and I was too old (15) to have the jab so she paid for me to have it.
you would probably not be eligible.

I was told any aged girl can get it, so long as they are a virgin. Once you lose your virginity, you simply need to get smear-tests to make sure everything is ok down there.
But I could be wrong, so don’t take my word for it if my answer still leaves you unsure.
Ask your doctor, I’m sure they will know exactly how old a girl must be, and if being a virgin has an effect on it.
    Hope this helps :)

In Australia, I just finished having my last jab. Im 15, girls from yr 7 – yr 12. And its free to people out of school here too, for this year and some of last year too. So i guess it depends. And no to the chick above me, you dont have to have sex to have it!
    LOL
